Earlier this evening of April 16th, 2020, Sephi Hakubi announced in an extended Facebook post on his page that effective August 1st, 2020, he will be stepping down as the Director of Operations of Hard Dance Texas (HD:TX). He provides a very detailed explanation of his stellar experience with the collective as well as his reasoning to pass the mantel and move on, citing reasons for personal growth, spending time with family, and focusing on HakubiVerse.
Along with performing as their resident talent, Sephi Hakubi has served in HD:TX’s staff since its foundation in December 2017, kicking off its first event with Davey Jones of Thee Artbeat, Everything is Harder in Texas. Since then, they’ve recognized the massive reception and attention Hard Dance music was receiving and continued to produce more Hard Dance events such as their annual flagship show San AnTokyo and Nation of the Nightkids; as well as, supporting anime convention dances as the ones at Realms Con and Anime Sekai. Sephi Hakubi’s role as Director of Operations were to facilitate operational support such as talent management, guest bookings, online promotions, and inter-business relations; as well as, serve as the team lead for some of Hard Dance Texas’ events, including his brain-children, Smash! Festa, and Nation of the Nightkids. Sephi will remain as Director of Operations until August 1st in case Nation of the Nightkids is able to take place after social distancing and quarantine procedures happen to subside by July. After which, he will remain in HD:TX as their resident DJ and adviser until his departure from San Antonio; in addition, he will continue to serve as the electronic dance director of the respective anime conventions he serves as staff and may produce one or two additional events off cycle, closing that he will headline one massive show with Hard Dance Texas prior to moving to Tokyo, Japan.
Sephi’s service to Hard Dance Texas is well appreciated by his peers in the collective as well as by the fans in the City of San Antonio and the State of Texas. We here at HakubiVerse are thankful for Sephi’s time at HD:TX and we are hopeful and excited about what heights his leadership will take us.
