In an astonishing surprise from Nightkids attending the final MechaCon to a sudden introduction of the RAVEmaker to new fans in New Orleans, Sephi Hakubi made his appearance at Club FTL, the rave that highlights the late-night main events at MechaCon. This unannounced appearance absolutely set an impact for that weekend as Sephi brought out his absolute best to pay tribute to what has seem to become MechaCon’s final show ever. On social media, Sephi has made his intention on attending MechaCon, but no obvious expectation was made that he would actually play–expect the unexpected when it comes the Maverick.
Club FTL would take place on Saturday, July 24th, 2021 in the main-events ballroom at the Hyatt Regency in New Orleans, Louisiana. Sephi would immediately kick off the rave at 9:30PM playing almost an hour and a half of what he brands “AnimEDM”, consisting of a mix of Japanese and Korean Festival EDM, House, Trance, and Vinahouse (Vietnamese club music). Following Sephi is MechaCon’s long-time resident and Louisiana’s EDM legend, DJ Wildfire, who pleased the crowd very consistent with his sets, which consistently had the makings of a massive music festival; it would be a matter of time after MechaCon that we could see Wildfire feature at a dance music festival. HakubiVerse is very familiar of Wildfire’s talents as Sephi himself saw him perform 11 years ago at MechaCon 2010 and they would eventually team up 10 years later performing at Nation of the Nightkids Online, Okashicon‘s virtual rave.
Sephi would tag back in with a second set; this time, giving everything he’s got with 170+BPM of pure Hardcore sounds, from Happy, UK, Japan, and every mood and home in between. Sephi would also perform his Hardcore Remix of “Lei Lo Lai”, which received a very hype ovation at the anime rave (Sephi has debuted this remix at Nation of the Nightkids 2021 in San Antonio, Texas the week prior to another positive reception). Sephi would plant his Hardcore flag in New Orleans before Wildfire would finish the night with his own Trance-heavy grand finale.
Sephi will continue his AnimEDM streak as he goes on to perform at Animatic Con’s Club Animatic on July 30th at the Holiday Inn & Suites in Cincinnati, Ohio, alongside DJs Darkstarr and Z3R0.
