WeekEND Rave Smash Virtual Music Festival Officially Announced
The HakubiVerse rave family along with our wonderful friends at Hard Dance Texas announce our first-ever virtual music festival: WeekEND Rave Smash. WeekEND Rave Smash will take place online at weekendravesmash.com on May 30th and 31st, 2020 and will feature over 20 hours the world’s DJs.
Just announced earlier today on their website and social media, WeekEND Rave Smash (or WRSFestival) works to continue to bring the rave for two days, kicking off on Saturday, May 30th at 11:30AM Central with a 30-minute pre-show and then unloading hours upon hours of pure dance renaissance all weekend. HakubiVerse and Hard Dance Texas DJs have already been picked to join the lineup, but the festival will also be looking at our rave friends and family across the world to join us as well. Signups for a chance to take part in the festival are online right now and will be going on until May 2nd.
For those that have followed Sephi Hakubi‘s career in the last 5 years, you may remember his weekly radio show and podcast called Weekly Rave Smash, which played his favorite dance music tunes for one hour each week and aired on radio stations such as ToukuFM online and My959 on Hawaii FM radio. Weekly Rave Smash aired for 2 seasons, airing on January 7th, 2016 on ToukuFM and finally finishing with its 100th episode on December 16th, 2017 on My959. Although Weekly Rave Smash was well received among Sephi Hakubi’s fans and the Hard Dance community, the show was wrapped up so that Hakubi would continue with other ventures such as music production and event promotion. Hakubi would later join Hard Dance Texas and organize Smash! Festa, a tribute to Weekly Rave Smash that took place on May 18th, 2019, which that event reached breakthrough success and allowed Hard Dance Texas to continue with its series of events. After massive success at San AnTokyo 3, HD:TX was on track to host Smash! Festa 2020; however, due to the consequences from the COVID-19 pandemic that forced the world population to limit mass gatherings, practice social distancing, and quarantine in their homes, Smash! Festa 2020 had to be cancelled. Prior to the COVID-19 crisis, HakubiVerse and Hard Dance Texas had tossed around the idea for a virtual festival as some of our friends from different promotions held their online events such as Otaku Hardcore Revolution and Ramen Break; it was a matter of when the festival can be done between events. With the landscape of live events suspended, it’s been the call to answer in keeping the rave living and both HakubiVerse and Hard Dance Texas will be answering that call. Although it was circumstance that gave birth to WeekEND Rave Smash rest assured, this will not be only time we’ll be doing this; now let’s bring life to the rave once again.
