On August 10th, 2012, before becoming who we now know as the RAVEmaker, Sephi Hakubi took the main stage at the Grand Hyatt to open a massive anime rave for a massive of Nightkids in downtown San Antonio, Texas. Since that fateful weekend, demand increased throughout the years hoping that the young maverick will return to DJ at anime conventions at the heart of the Alamo City. Then on November 4th, 2017, Sephi would get another opportunity to bring the Pure Dance Renaissance to San Antonio’s Northwest side at the only OtakuFair convention, this time alongside Sebris, whom both he and Hakubi just came off an otaku massive with Realms Con’s rave the month prior. Both Sephi and Sebris would continue to bring the real otaku-rave sounds across Texas at other conventions and club events, eventually forming the tag-team Wolf n Spice while opening for Zoe VanWest at San AnTokyo 3 and repeating the magic at San AnTokyo 4 opening for Jimni Cricket. Now that magic would be performed one more time as Sephi Hakubi & Sebris will make their debut at San Antonio’s legendary Bonham Exchange on Saturday, February 25th in downtown San Antonio for Kawacon’s official AnimEDM event, Kawadansu.
Kawacon is a new anime convention that premiered in San Antonio on February 26th, 2022 at the Norris Conference Center in San Antonio, Texas. After a rocketing first year that would end up having the convention sell out, Kawacon would announce their second year as Kawacon: 2 to Tango, this time being held at the much bigger Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on February 25th and 26th. Kawacon serves to bring the best of Otaku and Gaming culture in hopes of supporting those scenes and the community at large, providing an amazing variety of entertainment, vendors, panels, games, special guests, and now, an AnimEDM party. Along with Sephi Hakubi and Sebris, Kawacon’s guests announced so far include voice actors Keith Silverstein, Jeannie Tirado, Chris Patton, Trina Nishimura, Cherami Leigh, and Todd Haberkorn; also, musical guest Shihori, vTuber agency Kawa Entertainment, cosplay guests OhMitsooki and Venture_Bros Cosplay, and featured cosplay judges Adrialla, Minute Made, and Nana Cosplay. As of this writing, tickets are still on sale; however, it is currently on it’s last block of tickets with 90% gold passes sold out and the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk room block 75% sold out. Do not miss out on what will definitely appear as an incredible second year for Kawacon; visit kawaconsa.com and buy your tickets right away.
A Kawacon badge (and being over 18 years old), will indeed get you entry at the nearby Bonham Exchange’s upstairs ballroom into Kawacon’s official afterparty, Kawadansu featuring the RAVEmaker Sephi Hakubi and the World’s Best PLURfriend Sebris. These two will take turns each hour playing the best in AnimEDM and Hard Dance, with the first half featuring heart-melting Trance, House, and Mainstage Progressive, and then ending the night with heart-pounding rave sounds of Hardstyle, Happy Hardcore, and J-core, maybe even more. Entry is free for Kawacon badge-holders, and for those without a badge, it is $10 for 21+ and $15 for 18-21; however, make your weekend complete at go all the way with your Kawacon weekend pass.
