When I founded HakubiVerse back in 2020, I built it for the purpose of appreciating the real rave sounds and sharing the treasures that I would encounter over time. I have seen many styles ebb and flow across the scenes and a genre that I have highly appreciated alongside Hard Dance is Drum & Bass. I grew up listening to DnB when I would hear it on Toonami intros and then catch the breakbeat sounds at warehouse parties and campouts all over America. The epic family reunion I witnessed when I saw London Electricity at San Antonio’s Deco Ballroom back in March showed me that DnB is a massive force in the Alamo City with many of my friends rinsing out the dancefloor with these sounds for a long time. A friend that I knew for almost 10 years who goes by the name Dick Wilder has let me know about his new project teaming up with Afternoon Tiger to form the duo Wild Tiger.
W!LD T!GER is the collaboration of Richard Williams (Dick Wilder) and Caleb Fowler (Afternoon Tiger). Each coming from their respective backgrounds, both artists came together for their love of Electronic Music. W!LD T!GER was formed after a friendship through shared music taste, and a true passion for the art of EDM. After working together on their remix collaboration they discovered that the fusion of the creative process led to a unique sound. Their style is melodic with driving basslines, high energy beats, and stuttered synths; Creating a landscape of melodies. Richard Williams (Dick Wilder) and Caleb Fowler (Afternoon Tiger) hail from the Bass sub-genres of EDM. With each of their backgrounds originating in the Brostep/Dubstep genre, their collaborative efforts have landed them in the Drum & Bass scene with their first release entitled “MEOW” on Fuzion Four Records/Night Shift Music in 2024.

I admit that heavy Dubstep and Riddim is still a taste I am trying to acquire, but something that I could never deny is a good melody and I enjoy a heart-melting melody in a bass record. The application of Bass Music melodies into Drum & Bass is absolute genius and I am looking forward to future releases with these worlds colliding. Check out their latest release MEOW on digital platforms, now out on Fuzion Four Records.
